President, Interactive Ventures, Games & Digital Strategy
Digital media entrepreneur Peter Levin joined Lionsgate in May 2014 as President of Interactive Ventures & Games. Reporting to Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer, he is responsible for expanding Lionsgate's content into video games and other interactive ventures, including incubation of new properties, investment in existing games and digital media vehicles as well as extending Lionsgate’s portfolio of brands and franchises into the gaming and virtual reality space. Mr. Levin is also part of the executive team managing Lionsgate’s OTT ventures.
Under Mr. Levin’s leadership, Lionsgate has built a multiplatform game slate including mobile, casino/social casino, PC/Console and virtual reality games as well as unique IP integrations into existing games. For its debut major mobile game, Mr. Levin partnered with Saban and nWay to create the world’s first player vs. player fighting game on mobile, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars. The innovative game was downloaded more than 6 million times during its first four days on the market, making it the number one free app in the U.S. App Store for two straight days. The successful release was complemented by the Power Rangers invading Quahog through an integration of Power Rangers into Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, a top ranked mobile game from Fox Digital Entertainment and leading game developer TinyCo.
Lionsgate’s game slate also includes John Wick Chronicles, one of the first virtual reality games based on a movie and a John Wick DLC in Payday 2, a highly popular first-person-shooter game.
Mr. Levin has also shepherded the Company’s investments in Next Games, Mobcrush and 5th Journey, and engineered numerous strategic partnerships with Google, Oculus, Valve, HTC and Starbreeze Studios. He has also led Lionsgate into the high-growth esports market, spearheading the Company’s investment in the multidiscipline esports franchise Immortals, which he is Executive Chairman of.
Before joining Lionsgate, Mr. Levin served as CEO and Co-Founder of Nerdist Industries, a multiplatform creator of digital content including a premium content YouTube channel, a news division, a sizable social media footprint, live events and a network of podcasts. Prior to that, he was an executive advisor to Japanese media juggernaut Yoshimoto Kogyo, MAG Interactive, digital comic and graphic novel platform comiXology and Rovio Entertainment. Mr. Levin has also been associated with some of the most valuable game franchises in the world including Angry Birds.
He began his career in the Corporate Advisory Group at Creative Artists Agency and subsequently worked in the Corporate and Strategic Planning groups at the Walt Disney Company, where he also served as a senior producer for Disney Online.
Mr. Levin serves on the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Advisory Board as well as the BAFTA Virtual Reality Advisory Board.
